A one-dimensional Bingham flow (Q1206888)

A one-dimensional model is considered for the time-dependent problem, with the aim of proving global existence and uniqueness of a classical solution along with some qualitative properties of the free boundary. We show that this model can be reduced to a Stefan problem, for which local existence and uniqueness of the solution have been proved earlier. The global existence and the asymptotic behaviour of the solution will be studied, according to the choice of the initial data. The last section is devoted to the case of a time dependent pressure gradient.
