    Let \(L^ 2=L^ 2(dA)\) be the space of all square-integrable functions defined on the open unit disc \(D\), where \(dA=\pi^{-1}dxdy\) is the area measure. Let \(L^ 2_ h\) be the closed subspace of \(L^ 2\) consisting of all harmonic functions \(f\) on \(D\). We can write \(L^ 2=A^ 2\oplus\overline{A^ 2_ 0}\), where \(A^ 2\) is the Bergman space of all analytic functions \(f\) on \(D\) belonging to \(L^ 2\) and \(\overline{A^ 2_ 0}\) is the space of all complex conjugates of functions in \(A^ 2\) vanishing at the origin. Let \(P\) be the orthogonal projection of \(L^ 2\) onto \(L^ 2_ h\). For \(\phi\in L^ \infty(D)\) we define the operator \(C_ \phi\) on \(L^ 2_ h\) by \(C_ \phi f=P(\phi f)\). In this article it is shown that if \(\phi\in L^ \infty(D)\) and \(\psi\in C(\bar D)\) then \(C_{\phi\psi}-C_ \phi C_ \psi\) and \(C_ \phi C_ \psi-C_ \psi C_ \phi\) are compact operators on \(L^ 2_ h\).
