Let \(X\) be an infinite dimensional Banach space and let \((V_ i)\) be a nested sequence of distinct, finite dimensional vector subspaces of \(X\). Then the classical Bernstein's ``Lethargy'' theorem reads a sfollows. For every decreasing sequence of nonnegative, real numbers \((d_ i)\) with \(\lim d_ i=0\) there exists \(x\in X\) satisfying \(\text{dist}(x,V_ i)=d_ i\) for \(i=1,2,\dots \). The aim of this paper is to prove a version of the above result in a class of topological vector spaces including \(F\)-spaces and Orlicz-Musielak spaces with condition \(\Delta_ 2\).
