Kinematic assumption of the form \(u=-g(z)W_ x\), \(v=-g(z)W_ y\), \(w=f(z)W\), where \(W\) is a function of the in-plane coordinates \(x\) and \(y\), are applied to determine 3D elasticity solutions for the decay of self-equilibrating edge loads on a semi-infinite plate with traction-free faces. Homogeneous isotropy is tacidly assumed; anisotropy would require different \(z\)-distributions for \(u\) and \(v\).
