Let \(M^ n_ p(c)\) be an \(n\)-dimensional indefinite space form of index \(p = n - 3 \geq 2\) and of constant curvature \(c\), and \(M\) a 3-dimensional complete space-like submanifold with parallel mean curvature vector \(h\neq 0\) and with Ricci curvature bounded from above by a constant \(\delta\). The author continues investigations of \textit{R. Aiyama} and \textit{Q.-M. Cheng} [Math. Z. 206, No. 3, 333-339 (1991; Zbl 0695.53042) and Kodai Math. J. 15, No. 3, 375-386 (1992; Zbl 0777.53058)]. He proves: 1) \(M\) is totally umbilical, if \(c>0\), \(8c/9 \leq | \langle h,h\rangle| \leq c\) and \(\delta < 3(c-|\langle h,h\rangle|)\). And 2) If \(c\leq 0\), \(\delta < 3(p-3)(| \langle h,h\rangle| - c)/2\) and if the square \(S\) of the length of the second fundamental form of \(M\) satisfies \(S \geq 3 \cdot (p\cdot |\langle h,h\rangle| - (p-1)\cdot c)\), then \(c < 0\), \(p = 4\) or 5 and \(M\) is an isoparametric submanifold of one of two special types.
