    Let \(u\) be a non-constant subharmonic function in \(\mathbb{R}^2\) of slow growth, i.e., with \(B(r,u)=\sup \{ u(z):\; |z|=r\} =0(\varPsi (r))\), where \(\varPsi\) is a positive increasing function with \(\varPsi (r) = 0( ( \log r )^2 )\) as \(r\to \infty\). The authors give more precise information about the known fact that for ''most'' values of \(z\) on \(\{ |z|= r\}\), \(u(z)\) is not much smaller than \(B(r,u)\). Given \(K>1\) and a convex, non-negative sequence \((c_{\nu})\), \(\nu \in \mathbb{Z}\), such that \(c_{\nu} =0\) when \(\nu \leq 0\), \(c_{\nu} \to \infty\) as \(\nu\to\infty\), \(c_{\nu}=0(\varPsi (K^{\nu}))\) as \(\nu\to\infty\), the authors define a \(\varPsi\)- sequence \((\delta_{\nu})\) by \(\delta_{\nu}=c_{\nu}^{-1} (c_{\nu} - 2c_{\nu -1}+ c_{\nu -2})\) with the convention that \(\delta_{\nu}=0\) if \(c_{\nu}=0\). Let \(\epsilon > 0\). The main result of the paper states that there exists \(r_0 = r_0 (K)\) with \(1 < r_0 <K\) such that the set \(E_{\nu} = E_{\nu} (\epsilon )\) of points \(z\) in the annulus \(A_{\nu}=\{ r_0 K^{\nu} \leq |z| < r_0 K^{\nu +1}\}\) with \(u(z)<(1-\epsilon )B(|z|,u)\) is small enough to have its capacity satisfying \[ \log \{ r_0K^{\nu +2} /\mathrm{Cap}(E_{\nu})\} \geq \delta_{\nu}^{-1}(\epsilon \log K + 0(1)), \] where \(\delta_{\nu}\) is a \(\varPsi\)-sequence, as \(\nu\to\infty\). Examples are provided to show that there exist subharmonic functions of slow growth for which the right-hand side of this last inequality is \(\delta_{\nu}^{-1}\epsilon ' \log K\) for any \(K > r_0 > 1\), \(\epsilon '>\epsilon\), \(\varPsi\)-sequence \((\delta_{\nu})\) and with arbitrary sets \(E_{\nu}\) in the annuli \(A_{\nu}\).
