For a long time it was an open problem whether every bounded analytic function in the unit disc has finite total variation on some radius, i.e. if the set \[ V(F,\Theta)=\left\{\Theta: \int^ 1_ 0 | F'(re^{i\Theta})| dr<\infty\right\} \] is nonempty for every \(F\in H^ \infty\). The author proves this, even more he shows that \(V(F,\Theta)\) has Hausdorff dimension 1 for every \(F\in H^ \infty\). The proof is based on harmonic analysis by considering the Fourier series of the boundary value function of \(F\). The result is extended to bounded real harmonic functions in the unit disc.
