The authors introduce a plastic potential and yield function of porous materials that contain either aligned or randomly oriented spheroidal voids. They use an energy approach where von Mises' effective stress of a heterogeneously deformed matrix is defined from its distortional energy instead of from its average stress alone. For the isotropic case, the theory delivers an additional information on the influence of pore shape.
