The author addresses the following problem of Klee. Is every vector topology on a real vector space \(X\) the supremum of a nearly convex topology and a trivial dual topology? (A topology is nearly convex if every element which is not in the closure of \(\{0\}\) can be separated from 0 by a continuous linear form. The second term is self-explanatory). The author proves the following partial result: If \(F\) is a quasi-linear map on a separable normed space \(E\) which splits on an infinite- dimensional subspace, then the twisted topology on the tensor product \(\mathbb{R} \otimes_ FE\) has this property. He then discusses applications to some concrete spaces.
