The author reviews the literature on the solution of crack problems by the method of complex singular integral equations and their numerical solution. The attention is paid to the method of complex path-independent integrals (such as the \(J\)-integral) for the location of the crack inside a closed contour. The author shows effectiveness of the method in the case of a straight crack by determining numerically the crack length and the pressure distribution along the crack.
