[For part I and II see Publ. Math. 32, 251-253 (1985; Zbl 0607.51008) and Indian J. Pure Appl. Math. 17, 1314-1316 (1986; Zbl 0617.51009)]. The author continues his study of general topological projective planes \({\mathcal P}=(P,{\mathcal L})\) with Hausdorff topologies. In this note he proves that the point space P, the space \({\mathcal L}\) of lines, every projective line, every affine line, and the point space \(P\setminus L\) of every affine plane (for some projective line L) are either all pathwise connected, locally connected, first or second countable, separable, metrizable, or have a \(\sigma\)-locally finite base or none of them has the respective topological property. An analogous theorem regarding the connectedness of the five spaces has been proved by \textit{H. Salzmann} [Math. Z. 61, 489-494 (1955; Zbl 0064.178)]. Since in view of his theorem P and \({\mathcal L}\) have similar topological properties, the author conjectures that P and \({\mathcal L}\) are homeomorphic in any topological projective plane. This is known to hold true if \({\mathcal P}\) is pappian, ordered, or locally compact of dimension 2 or 4.
