Let T be an irrational rotation of the unit circle. A strictly increasing sequence \((u_ n:\) \(n\in {\mathbb{N}})\) of positive integers is called good universal in the space \(L^ p\quad (1\leq p<\infty)\) if and only if the Individual Ergodic Theorem along \((u_ n:\quad n\in {\mathbb{N}})\) holds true in \(L^ p\), i.e. for any function \(f\in L^ p\) the sequence \((\frac{1}{k}\sum^{k}_{i=1}f(T^{u_ i}x):\quad k\in {\mathbb{N}})\) satisfies the assertion of the Individual Ergodic Theorem. The author proves that for any \(p\in (1,\infty)\) there exists a sequence which is good universal in \(L^ p\) but it is not good universal in any \(L^ q\) where \(1\leq q<p\) (see Theorem 2). The construction uses a perturbation technique presented in detail in Theorem 1.
