    Positive linear convolution operators from \(C([-2a,2a])\) into \(C([-a,a])\) are considered. This means that for \(f\in C([-2a,2a])\), \(a>0\), a probability measure \(\mu\) on \([-a,a]\) and every \(x\in [-a,a]:\) \(L(f,x)=\int^{a}_{-a}([f(x+y)+f(x-y)]/2)\mu (dy)\). Error estimates are established for all functions \(f\in C^ n([-2a,2a])\), \(n\geq 2\) even, such that \(\omega_ 2(f^{(n)},| y|)\leq 2A| y|^{\alpha},\) \(0\leq | y| \leq a\), \(0<\alpha \leq 2\), \(A>0\), where \(\omega_ 2\) is the second order modulus of continuity with respect to the sup-norm. Setting \(c_{2\rho}=\int^{a}_{- a}y^{2\rho}\mu (dy)\) and \(d_ r=[\int^{a}_{-a}| y|^ r\mu (dy)]^{1/r},\) it is proved that for \(x_ 0\in [-a,a]:\) \[ | L(f,x_ 0)-f(x_ 0)-\sum^{n/2}_{\rho =1}\frac{f^{(2\rho)}(x_ 0)}{(2\rho)!}c_{2\rho}| \leq Ad_{n+2}^{n+\alpha}/ [(\alpha+1)(\alpha+2)... (\alpha +n)]. \] Furthermore, it is shown that this inequality is sharp and generalizations of it are given for all \(f\in C^ n([-2a,2a])\), such that \(\omega_ 2(f^{(n)}\), \(| t|)\leq g(t)\), \(0\leq | t| \leq \alpha\), where g is a given, arbitrary, bounded, even positive function which is Borel measurable.
