This article concerns wM-spaces in the sense of \textit{T. Ishii} [Proc. Japan Acad. 46, 16-21 (1970; Zbl 0198.272)]. The first two results stated by the author are well-known: The first is that \(T_ 1\)-spaces of point-countable type are q-spaces and regular isocompact q-spaces are of point-countable type. Also the second theorem of the author follows from the well-known result that a \(T_ 1\)-regular q-space of countable character is first countable. One of the author's two main results is the following: Let f:X\(\to Y\) be a closed continuous map of a \(T_ 2\) isocompact wM-space X onto Y. Then the following are equivalent: (i) Y is a regular q-space. (ii) Y is a regular space of point-countable type. (iii) The boundary of \(f^{-1}\{y\}\) is compact for each \(y\in Y\). (iv) Y is a \(T_ 2\) isocompact wM-space. The proof of this theorem involves results of \textit{E. Michael} [Isr. J. Math. 2, 173-176 (1965; Zbl 0136.193)] and of Ishii, op. cit. The other main result is that any quotient image of a regular isocompact q-space is a k-space. In the situation of \(T_ 2\)-spaces this result follows from the propositions that \(T_ 2\)- spaces of point-countable type are k-spaces [\textit{A. V. Arkhangel'skij}, Tr. Mosk. Mat. O.-va. 13, 3-55 (1965; Zbl 0149.404)] and that \(T_ 2\) quotient images of k-spaces are k-spaces.
