This paper is concerned with the system of parabolic equations \[ u_t= a\Delta u+ f(u, v),\quad v_t= b\Delta v- f(u,v),\quad x\in\mathbb{R}^N,\;t>0,\tag{1} \] with the initial conditions \[ u(x, 0)= u_0(x),\quad v(x,0)= v_0(x),\quad x\in\mathbb{R}^N,\tag{2} \] where \(a\), \(b\) are positive constants, \(f(u,v)\) is a continuous nonlinear function, \(f(u, v)\geq 0\), \(f(u,0)= 0\) and \(u_0(x)\), \(v_0(x)\) are continuous nonnegative and bounded functions. The system (1)--(2) models the temperature and concentration for an exothermic chemical reaction for which just one species controls the reaction rate \(f\). The main result of this paper is the following: If \(f(u,v)\leq C\varphi(v) e^{\alpha u}\) for some \(C>0\) and \(\alpha>0\), where \(\varphi(x)\) is any continuous function such that \(\varphi(0)= 0\), then the initial value problem (1)--(2) has a classical solution whose components are globally bounded for \(t>0\).
