Approximate construction of rational approximations and the effect of error autocorrection. Applications (Q1264956)

Relatively complete review of the numerical aspects of rational approximations as Padé approximation, Padé-Chebyshev approximation and Padé multipoint interpolation (Padé approximation of the second kind). A detailed analysis of the cancellation of errors between numerators and denominators is given. The author calls this mechanism the error autocorrection and observes that they are two classes of functions: one, for which this mechanism is clearly very efficient, and another one for which the errors increase significantly with the noise of the starting data.
