The author presents a complete and unified study of symmetries and anisotropies of classical and micropolar elasticity tensors. Using a new method based on a well-chosen complex vector basis and algebra of complex tensors, the author proves that an arbitrary elasticity tensor can possess only 1-fold, 2-fold, 3-fold, 4-fold or \(\infty\)-fold symmetry axes. Thus the completeness of crystallographic symmetries together with the isotropic symmetry is put into evidence for classical and micropolar elasticity tensors. Additionally, the author presents symmetry classes for classical Cauchy and Green elasticity tensors as well as for micropolar elasticity tensors, and mentions their group properties.
