The complex Lie group \(E_8(\mathbb{C})\) has a unique conjugacy class of Lie primitive finite subgroups which are the nontrivial direct product of more than one finite simple group. The normalizer \(B\) of such a group contains \(A_5\times S_6\) with index 2 and is not a direct product. This result was obtained first by \textit{A. V. Borovik} [Algebra Logika 28, No. 3, 249-279 (1989; Zbl 0719.20025)], so the authors call \(B\) the Borovik group. Since this finite subgroup of \(E_8(\mathbb{C})\) is unusual, the authors determine its elements as members of \(E_8(\mathbb{C})\)-conjugacy classes and discuss its \(A_5\) subgroups.
