The authors prove sharp uniqueness of the continuation results for two (nonlinear) equations of importance in mechanics. They make use of Treves version of Carleman estimates. We observe that the relevant estimates have been obtained by \textit{L. Nirenberg} [Commun. Pure Appl. Math. 10, 89-105 (1957; Zbl 0077.09402)]. Also the results about the Boussinesq's equation are given in the paper of the reviewer [J. Differ. Equations 105, No. 2, 217-238 (1993; Zbl 0851.35028), Corollary 6.1] cited by the authors. The uniqueness of the continuation results are crucial for optimal control and inverse problems.
