A Boolean tableau is a generalization of a Young tableau and is an array of several rows and infinitely many columns with entries from a finite Boolean algebra such that the entries increase across the rows and down the columns. Generating functions produced by such tableaux may be considered as generalizations of Schur functions and the author proves a Jacobi-Trudi-type determinantal formula for these generating functions. The theorem also applies to generating functions produced by the tableaux of the order ideals of zigzag posets and implies results of \textit{S. Okada} [Partially strict shifted plane partitions, J. Comb. Theory, Ser. A 53, No. 1, 143-156 (1990; Zbl 0686.05006)] and \textit{M. L. Wachs} [Flagged Schur functions, Schubert polynomials, and symmetrizing operators, J. Comb. Theory, Ser. A 40, 276-289 (1985; Zbl 0579.05001)]. The theorem is proved using the Gessel-Viennot lattice path technique.
