Let \(R=K[X_1, \dots, X_n]/(X_1^n+ \cdots+ X^n_n)\), where \(K\) is a field of prime characteristic \(p\) and \(p\) does not divide \(n\). This paper proves that the element \((x_1 \dots x_n)^{n-2}\) is contained in the tight closure of the ideal \((x_1^{n-1}, \dots, x_n^{n-1})\), where lower case letters denote the images of the corresponding variables. The problem, even for \(n=3\), has been cited as an example of how difficult tight closure computations can be. The proof is an intricate and clever calculation.
