In this monograph, the authors study some nonclassical and inverse problems for pseudoparabolic equations and inverse problems for operator differential and integrodifferential equations of the pseudoparablic type. The monograph is divided into three chaptes. The first chapter deals with the Cauchy problem with data in a time-like manifold for pseudoparabolic equations. Uniqueness and existence theorems as well as stability results are proved for solutions in a special class of functions in the case of space-1 dimension. Stability estimates are given in the space-2 dimension case. The second chapter treats interior problems for pseudoparabolic equations. The problem is to reconstruct the solution from values on a set in this domain, a classical prototype of which is the problem of analytic continuation. Among the examples considered are the three point problem, for which uniqueness and stability results are proved, the inverse problem for a pseudoparabolic equation without initial data on a half-strip of the \(xt\)-plane, for which a coefficient in the equation is to be determined, and the problem of recovering the solution from values given on a curve. The final Chapter 3 considers inverse problems for operator pseudoparabolic and operator integrodifferential equations. Theorems on existence and uniqueness are proved, and stability estimates are derived. In particular, the problem of recovering the kernels of the integrodifferential operator of a pseudoparabolic equation is treated with stability estimates given. The monograph is a most valuable addition to the literature on partial differential equations and inverse problems, and should be recommended for researchers in these fields.
