Employing the exact equations of elastic thin membranes, the author studies the propagation of nonlinear waves in a prestressed tube filled with the inviscid fluid. In the analysis, the author assumes physiological conditions that the arteries are subjected to a uniform inner pressure \(P_0\) and a constant axial stretching ratio \(\lambda_{z}\). The author derives a nonlinear equation of the motion of the membrane in the radial direction under the effect of internal pressure. By using the reductive perturbation technique, he investigates the propagation of weakly nonlinear waves in the longwave approximation.
