Let \(R\) be a commutative Noetherian ring with a non-zero identity element. For complexes of modules over \(R\), the author introduces the concept of width and proves the dual of a generalization of the Auslander-Buchsbaum equality, that is, if \(X\) is a bounded complex of finite injective dimension then \(\text{width} {\mathcal H}om(Y,X)=\text{depth} Y+\inf({\mathcal H}om(k,X))\) for all bounded complexes \(X\), where \({\mathcal H}om\) is the derived functor of the functor Hom, \(\inf(W)\) the infimum of \(n\in\mathbb{Z}\) such that \(H_n(W)\neq 0\), and \(\text{depth} Y\) is the depth of the complex \(Y\).
