A group \(G\) is a residually finite \(p\)-group if, for each \(1\neq g\in G\), there exists a normal subgroup \(N\) of \(p\)-power index in \(G\) such that \(g\not\in N\). The authors derive necessary and sufficient conditions for generalized free products of free groups or finitely generated torsion-free nilpotent groups, amalgamating a cycle, to be residually finite \(p\)-groups. Also they characterize the residually finite \(p\)-group property of tree products of finitely generated torsion-free nilpotent groups amalgamating cycles.
