The authors prove several results on the structure of the set of subsequential limit points of a sequence of iterates of a self-map of a metric space, which extend some earlier result of \textit{J. B. Diaz} and \textit{F. T. Metcalf} [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 135, 459-485 (1969; Zbl 0174.25904)], \textit{M. Maiti} and \textit{A. C. Babu} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 82, 377-381 (1981; Zbl 0484.47031)], and of \textit{S. Park} [J. Korean Math. Soc. 19, 19-22 (1982; Zbl 0497.54045)].
