    [For part I, see Zbl 0907.35021.] The author proves the uniqueness of the very singular solution for the equation \[ u_t=\Delta u^m-u^p, \qquad (x,t)\in\mathbb R^N\times(0,\infty), \tag{1} \] where \((1-2/N)^+<m<1<p<m+2/N\). This solution is of the form \(u(x,t)=t^{-\nu}f(\eta)\), where \(\nu=1/(p-1)\), \(\eta=| x| t^{-\nu/\alpha}\), \(\alpha=2/(p-m)\), and \(f\) is a unique nontrivial solution of an O.D.E. As a consequence, it is shown that any solution \(u\) of (1) with initial data \(u(x,0)=u_0(x)\geq 0\) satisfying \(\lim_{| x| \to\infty}| x| ^\alpha u_0(x)=0\) fulfils \(\lim_{| x| \to\infty}| x| ^\gamma u(x,t)=Ct^{\gamma/2}\) for \(t>0\), where \(\gamma=2/(1-m)\).
