The paper is devoted to a study of the strong convergence of a sequence of uniform \(L^p_{\text{loc}}(\mathbb{R}\times \mathbb{R}^+)\) bounded approximate solutions \(\{u^\varepsilon(x, t)\}\) to scalar conservation laws, which can be written in the form \[ u_t+ f_x(x,t,u)+ g(x, t,u)= 0,\quad x\in\mathbb{R},\quad t>0,\tag{1} \] with initial data \(u(x,0)\in L^p(\mathbb{R}\cap L^2(\mathbb{R})\), \(x\in\mathbb{R}\), \(1<p\leq\infty\). The authors prove strong convergence of a subsequence of \(\{u^\varepsilon(x, t)\}\) without the convexity assumption and growth condition at infinity for the convective part \(f(x,t,u)\). Thereby, the results described generalizes those in earlier work in the sense that the existence of a weak solution for the equation (1) is proven under a more general growth condition. Finally, the compactness framework is applied to some equations such as the scalar conservation laws and a combustion model.
