The following equation is considered for \(x\in \mathbb R\) and \(t\geq 0\): \(EI{\partial^{4}u\over\partial x^{4}}+ku+c{\partial u\over\partial t}+ m{\partial^{2}u\over\partial t^{2}}=F(x,t)\). The equation describes the motion of an infinite elastic Euler-Bernoulli beam on Kelvin foundation. Here \(u(x,t)\) is the transverse displacement of the beam, \(EI\) and \(m\) are the bending stiffness and the linear density of the beam respectively, \(k\) and \(c\) represent the spring constant and the damping constant. The right-hand side which describes the moving line load is supposed to be in the form: \(F(x,t;r_0)=P_{0}{H[r_{0}^{2}-(x-vt)^2]\over 2r_0}H(t)\), where \(H(\cdot)\) is the Heaviside step function. The initial conditions are \(u(x,0)={\partial u\over\partial t}\bigl| _{t=0}=0\). Making use of the Laplace transform in \(t\) and the Fourier transform in \(x\), the authors obtain an algebraic equation. Solving this equation, they express (after inverse transforms) the solution of the original problem via the generalized Duhamel integral.
