To describe the ordinary representations of the symmetric group the concept of symmetrizer was introduced by Young, and for the projective representations by Schur. Recently [Adv. Math. 127, No. 2, 190-257 (1997; Zbl 0930.20011)] \textit{M. L. Nazarov} developed the concept of the projective symmetrizer to study the ordinary spin representations of the symmetric groups. In the paper under review the author proves some similarities between the ordinary symmetrizer and the projective symmetrizer for the symmetric group. To study the structure of such a symmetrizer the author has written three papers and the article under review is the first one.
