The theory of partially solvable Schrödinger operators leads to the study of Lie algebras of scalar differential operators admitting a finite-dimensional invariant subspace of smooth functions. The authors focus their attention on three such modules of polynomial functions (in two complex variables): (i) the module \({\mathcal R}_{n,m}=\{ x^iy^j:0\leq i\leq n\), \( 0\leq j\leq m\}\) with an action of \(\text{sl}(2)\otimes\text{sl}(2)\); (ii) the module \({\mathcal T}_n=\{ x^iy^j:0\leq i+j\leq n\}\) with an action of \(\text{sl}(3)\); (iii) the module \(S^r_{p,q}=\{ x^iy^j:0\leq i+rj\leq p\), \(0\leq j\leq q\}\) with an action of \(\text{gl}(2)\ltimes{\mathbb C}^{r+1}\). The authors describe the subalgebras of differential operators which map these modules into themselves. The case of \(2\times 2\) matrix differential operators acting on direct sums of these modules is considered as well.
