Suppose \(G\) is a stratified Lie group with dilations \((\delta_t)\) whose Lie algebra has rational structure constants. Then \(G\) has a discrete co-compact subgroup \(\Gamma\) which is invariant under certain dilations. The author proves that every spectral entire function \(f\) on \(G\) with respect to a natural sub-Laplacian is uniquely determined by its values on \(\delta_{2^j} \Gamma\) if \(j\) is a small enough integer. This is an analogue to the classical Shannon-Whittaker sampling theorem. Moreover, \(f\) can be approximated in the \(L^2(G)\)-sense by Lie group analogues of Lagrangian splines. The proof is via a Bernstein inequality.
