Short notes on quasi-uniform spaces. V (Q1271967)

In the first part the following problem is investigated: are quietness and some of its generalizations preserved by firm extensions, doubly uniformly strict extensions or doubly strict extensions of quasi-uniform spaces? The author proves, among other things, that local quietness, piecewise quietness, the Cauchy and the fully Cauchy properties are preserved by doubly uniformly strict extensions. However, these properties are not preserved by doubly strict extensions. In the second part of the paper similar questions are investigated for several symmetry properties of quasi-uniform spaces. Positive as well as negative answers are obtained.
