The influence of a floating dock to the wave motion on the free surface of the sea with finite depth is studied. The dock produces a diffraction of water waves, studied by many authors, especially in the two-dimensional case. The authors of the present paper approach this problem in the three-dimensional case using the method of dual integral equations, applied in many other physical and mechanical problems. Using some integral transforms, required by the method, they convert the dual integral equations into a Fredholm integral equation of the second kind for which the asymptotic solution is given. They calculate also the force on the plate and the shallow water approximation.
