Let \(A\) denote the usual class of analytic functions \(f(z)=z+ a_2z^2+ \cdots\) that are univalent in the unit disk \(E\). It is well known that the Koebe functions \(K_\alpha(z)={z\over(1-e^{i\alpha}z)^2}\) solve a number of extremal problems in the class \(S\). For \(M>1\), let \(S^M=\{f\in S:| f(z) |<M\) for \(z\in E\}\). The Pick functions in \(S^M\) are analogous to Koebe functions in \(S\). Pick functions \(P_\alpha^M(z)\) are defined by the equation \({M^2 P_\alpha^M (z)\over (M-P_\alpha^M(z))}= K_\alpha(z)\). Set \(P_\pi^M(z)= \sum^\infty_{n=1} p_{n,M}z^n\), and suppose that \(1<k_1<k_2 <\cdots<k_m\) are arbitrary integers. For \(f\in S\), let \(J(k_1, \dots, k_m;f)= \text{Re} \sum^m_{j =1} a_{k_j}\). The author proves that if one of the integers \(k_1, \dots, k_m\) is even, then there exists a constant \(M(k_1,\dots,k_m)\) such that \(J(k_1, \dots, k_m;f)\leq \sum^m_{j=1} p_{k_j,M}\) whenever \(M\geq M(k_1, \dots, k_m)\) and \(f\in S^M\). The proof uses a wide-ranging set of tools.
