Continuity of the spectrum of the Neumann problem for second-order elliptic operators in expanding domains (Q1274127)

The author proves that the spectrum of the self-adjoint extension \(L\) of the boundary value problem \[ \ell v= -\sum^n_{j=1} {\partial\over\partial x_j} \Biggl(a(x) {\partial v\over\partial x_j}\Biggr),\quad x\in\Omega,\quad {\partial v\over\partial\nu}|_{\partial\Omega}= 0 \] has a purely continuous spectrum for some class of domains \(\Omega\) with infinite boundaries.
