    Let \( P_{n} \) denote the set of polynomials of degree at most \(n\), \( D=\{ z \in \mathbb{C}: | z |<1 \} \), \( T=\partial D \} \), \( W(z)=\prod^{n}_{ j=1 } (1-\overline{ \alpha }_{j} z) \), \( B_{0}=1\), \( B_{n}=\prod^{n}_{ j=1} \frac {z- \alpha_{j} }{1-\overline { \alpha }_{j} z } \), \( B_{n}=\{ \frac {p(z)}{w(z)} : p \in P_{n} \}\), and \( B_{n,a}=\{ r \in B_{n} : \min_{z \in T } | r(z) | \leq a \} \). The main result of the paper under review generalizes the well-known S. Bernstein inequality for polynomials and entire functions. Theorem 3.1. If \( r \in B_{n,a} \) and \( \| r \| =1 \), then \( | r' | \leq | B' (z)| -\frac {1-a}{4 \pi M} \{ \frac {m}{M} (1-a)-\sin ( \frac {m}{M} (1-a)) \} \), for \( z \in T \). Here \( m=\min_{z \in T} | B'_{n}(z) | \) and \(M\) is a sup-norm of \( B'[n] \) on the unit disk. For the polynomials the theorem reduces to a result of \textit{A. Giroux} and \textit{Q. Rahman} [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 193, 67-98 (1974; Zbl 0288.30006)].
