This paper is concerned with the classification of (\(d\)-dimensional) periodic tilings (of Euclidean space) according to their transitivity properties. The main results are: For any \(n\) and \(d\), there are only finitely many types of (1) convex tilings with precisely \(n\) transitivity classes of tiles, and of (2) (face-to-face) tilings with precisely \(n\) transitivity classes of flags \((f_2,f_4,\dots)\) formed by facets \(f_i\) of even dimension \(i\). Tilings are described as equivariant tilings, i.e., as CW-complexes together with a group of symmetries, types of tilings are coded by their Delaney symbols which are also the main tool for the proofs of the theorems (and some related results). For the convex case, some additional geometrical considerations are used. (Remark: There is a minor misprint in (T1) on line 2 of page 144: \({\mathcal T}^1\) should read \({\mathcal T}^i\)).
