The paper is devoted to factorization of inequalities for series. The main result asserts that under certain appropriate natural assumptions, a sequence \(\{x_n\}\) satisfies \[ \| \{x_n\}\|_{\lambda(p,c)}= \Biggl(\sum_n\lambda_n\biggl(\sum_{k=n}^\infty \lambda_k\biggr)^{-c}\biggl(\sum_{k=1}^ n| x_k| \biggr)^ p\Biggr)^{1/p}<\infty \] if and only if it admits a factorization \(x_n=y_nz_n\) with \(\{y_n\}\in\ell ^ p\) and \[ \| \{z_n\}\|_{\Lambda(p',c)}=\sup_n\Biggl(\biggl(\sum_{k=n}^\infty \lambda_k\biggr)^{(p-1)(1-c)}\sum_{k=1}^ n| x_k| ^ p\Biggr)^{1/p}<\infty. \] Moreover, \(\| \{x_n\}\|_{\lambda(p,c)}\) is comparable to \(\inf \| \{y_n\}\|_p \| \{z_n\}\|_{\Lambda(p',c)}\), where the infimum is extended over all admissible factorizations, and \(p'=p/(p-1)\), \(p>1\). A symmetric statement is given, too. The proofs are based on earlier results of the author and of G. Bennett.
