Consider an autonomous system of ordinary differential equations and assume that we have at disposal a Lyapunov function \(V(x)\) such that \(\dot V(x)\leq 0\). Then, it is possible to conclude that the origin is asymptotically stable only if an additional condition concerning nonexistence of certain invariant sets is satisfied. This classical result is called Lasalle's principle in the western literature, and Barbashin's theorem in the Russian literature. In this paper, the authors extend this classical result to time-dependent, almost periodic systems.
