To each submanifold \(F^n\) of Euclidean space \(E^{n+m}\) corresponds its Gauss image \(\Gamma^n\) in the Grassmann manifold \(G(m,n+m)\). On the other hand, generically, a submanifold of \(G(m,n+ m)\) is not the Gauss image of any submanifold of \(E^{n+ m}\), i.e. the Gauss images form a very particular class of submanifolds in \(G(m,n+ m)\). In the present paper, necessary and sufficient analytical conditions for a given three-dimensionl submanifold \(\Gamma^3\) of \(G(3, m+3)\) to be the Gauss image of a three-dimensional submanifold \(F^3\) in \(E^{3+m}\) with first normal space of dimension greater than 4 are given. Moreover, a uniqueness result for the reconstruction of such a three-dimensional submanifold \(F^3\) in \(E^{3+m}\) from its Gauss image is demonstrated.
