\textit{Z. Kh. Rakhmonov} [Math. USSR, Izv. 34, 213-228 (1990); translation from Izv. Akad. Nauk SSSR, Ser. Mat. 53, 211-224 (1989; Zbl 0692.10037)] gave the asymptotic formula \(H_2(x;D,t)=x^{3/2} \phi(D)^{-1}+O(R)\) for \(H_2(x)=\sum\Lambda(n)\), the sum being over all integers \(n\leq x\) and all integers \(m\leq x^{1/2}\) such that \(n+m^2\equiv t\bmod D\), and \(D\) is a prime satisfying \(D<x\leq D^2\) and \((t,D)=1\). \(R\) is given a complicated upper bound, which shows that the above asymptotic formula is non-trivial for \(D^{3/2+\delta}\leq x\). The authors refine some estimates and their upper bound for \(R\) implies that the asymptotic formula is non-trivial for \(D\ll x^{2/3} (\log x)^{-c}\), for a suitable constant \(c>0\).
