The current book grew out of a research project on the foundation of parity logic, fuzzy logic and evolutionary computing. In the recent years there has been an increasing interest in evolutionary and fuzzy computing and their applications in cognitive science. The author emphasizes the idea that all these different methods and fields are based on the hypercubical calculus. The book has three parts. Part I ``Parity Logic'' contains 5 chapters discussing properties of finite parity logic systems. This part was written from standpoint of a theoretical, computational, and cognitive psychologist with a selection of main themes. The material is organized in a coherent framework useful for students, researchers, and practioners. In particular, chapter 2 contains the fundamentals of generalized XOR operators. In chapter 3 this theoretical framework is applied to binary signal analysis. In chapter 4 modeling of perception and action in parity logic is treated. In Chapter 5 the three main structures of parity logic are studied called genitons, paritons and fanions. It is shown how these concepts can be used to simulate the evolution of structure formation. Part II if this book contains two detailed chapters on fuzzy logic. Chapter 7 reviews the mathematical foundation of fuzzy logic while chapters 8 presents concepts of causal modeling with fuzzy cognitive maps. Part III is devoted to evolutionary computing and presents a foundation through parity logic. It includes also a chapter on the fundamentals of autogenetic algorithms. Chapter 9 deals with the foundation of evolutionary computing using parity logic, the presentation of the material is less formal. Evolutionary computing includes a wide range of approaches such as genetic algorithms, evolution strategies, evolution programs, and cellular automata. Finally, in chapter 10 a systematic foundation of autogenetic algorithms is expounded. The interested reader will obtain a valuable insight in new trends of applications of fuzzy logic, parity logic and evolutionary computing in cognitive science.
