A semigroup \(S\) with unary operation \(^*\colon S\to S\) is called a regular *-semigroup if it satisfies \((x^*)^*=x\), \((xy)^*=y^*x^*\), \(xx^*x=x\). If additionally the set of idempotents \(E(S)\) satisfies \(xyzw=xzyw\), then \(S\) is called a generalized inverse *-semigroup. In the paper the representation of a generalized inverse *-semigroup into the \(i\)-symmetric generalized inverse *-semigroup \(GI_{({\mathfrak X};\sigma)}\) on a transitive \(i\)-set \(({\mathfrak X};\sigma)\), which was introduced by Imaoka and Katsura, is investigated. This enables to give new proofs that the classes of generalized inverse *-semigroups and generalized inverse semigroups have the strong amalgamation property.
