If \(a\) is an integer and \(p\) is a prime not dividing \(a\), denote by ord\({}_p\)\(a\) the least positive integer \(\gamma\) for which \(a^\gamma\equiv 1\pmod p\). Let \(k\) be a product of distinct primes. For primes \(p\) such that \((p-1, k)>1\), we denote by \(m_k(p)\) the least positive integer \(a\) such that \((\hbox{ord}_pa, k)>1\). Let \(m_k(p)=0\) if \((p-1, k)=1\). The author proves some asymptotic formulae for the sum \[ \sum\limits_{p\leq x} m_k(p), \] where \(x\) is large enough depending on \(k\).
