Unimodal mappings and Li-Yorke chaos (Q1280628)

The family of unimodal mappings of the form (1) \(F:(x,y)\mapsto (\lambda f(x)(g(y))^s,x)\) is considered. Here \(\lambda\in(0,1)\) and \(s>0\) are parameters. Under some natural conditions on \(f\) and \(g\), the existence of Li-Yorke chaos is shown; the chaos is dual to the existence of a trajectory homoclinic to a saddle periodic point of period 3.
