The residue number system (RNS) is used to design nonrecursive digital filters (DF). It is shown that DFRNS can be used in real-time processing, and have better computational accuracy and frequency characteristics than DF designed through the positional number system (PNS). Their hardware costs are virtually identical. DFRNS can be designed using the existing component base. RNS processors can be incorporated in PNS computing systems. There seem to be misprints in (9), (12) and (15).
