The authors obtain exact relations for effective tensors of polycrystals, applicable to elastic and piezoelectric materials. The stability under lamination is an important necessary condition for an exact relation for effective moduli of polycrystals. This requirement is so restrictive that it is possible to find all such relations explicitly. In order to do this, one needs to combine the results developed in part I [see the foregoing entry] and the representation theory of the rotation groups SO(2) and SO(3). More precisely, the authors state that one needs to know all rotationally invariant subspaces of the space of material moduli. The authors present also an algorithm for finding all such subspaces. They illustrate the algorithm on examples from three-dimensional elasticity, where they derive all exact relations, and on examples from two- and three-dimensional piezoelectricity.
