The author studies the initial-boundary value problem which describes the one-dimensional motion of a heat-conducting viscous compressible fluid between two horizontal parallel plates. The purpose is to justify the passage to the limit as the shear viscosity \(\gamma\) goes to 0. Employing Lagrangian variables and some uniform a priori estimates, the author shows that for \(\mu> 0\) there exists a unique solution of the above problem; moreover, these solutions are shown to strongly converge to the limiting solution for \(\mu=0\).
