Motivated by Lagrangian dynamics, several authors related the tangent structure of the tangent bundle \(TN\) of a manifold \(N\) with the symplectic form associated to a nondegenerate Lagrangian \({\mathcal L}: TN\to\mathbb{R}\). In this paper, the author gives a generalization of this relation for any symplectic manifold \((M,\omega)\) endowed with a tangent structure compatible with \(\omega\). For such a manifold, he proves that the symplectic form \(\omega\) locally looks like the form associated with a nondegenerate Lagrangian function, and \(M\) is said to be locally Lagrange-symplectic. Moreover, a characterization of the globally Lagrange-symplectic manifolds is given, and the symplectic reduction of the locally Lagrange-symplectic manifolds is considered.
